1. Week

* The password for the course notes and .m files are same and it was given in the classroom.


In the 1st week following topics are covered:

- Chapter P1: Real numbers and the real line: inequalities, intervals, quadratic inequalities, the absolute value

- Chapter P2: Cartesian coordinates in plane: increments, distances, straight lines, equations of straight lines

- Chapter P3: Graphs of quadratic equations: circles and disks, equations of parabolas, shifting a graph, ellipses and hyperbolas

- Chapter P4: Functions and their graphs: domain, graphs, even and odd functions


2. Week

In the 2nd week following topics are covered:

- Chapter P5: Combining functions to make new functions: sums, differences..., composite functions, piecewise defined functions

- Chapter P6: Polynomials and rational functions

- Chapter P7: The trigonometric functions

3. Week

In the 3rd week following topics are covered:

- Chapter 1.1: Examples of Velocity, Growth Rate, and Area

- Chapter 1.2: Limits of functions

- Chapter 1.3: Limits at infinity and infinite limits

- Chapter 1.5: The formal definition of limit

4. Week

You can find your grade for the 1st Quiz in the attached file. If you have a hesitation about your grade, you can look at your paper in Res. Assist. Mert Özer's office tomorrow (23.10.2018) between 09:00-12:00.

In the 4th week following topics are covered:

- Chapter 1.4: Continuity: continuity at a point, continuity on an interval, there are lots of continuous functions, continuous extensions and removable discontinuities, continuous functions on closed finite intervals

- Chapter 2.1: Tangent Lines and Their Slopes

- Chapter 2.2: The Derivative

- Chapter 2.3: Differentiation Rules


5. Week

In the 5th week following topics are covered:

- Chapter 2.4: Th Chain Rule

- Chapter 2.5: Derivative of Trigonometric Functions


1st midterm will be held on 02/11/2018 Friday in the classrooms MAK224+MAK225+MAK226 in Mechanical Engineering Department.


6. Week

In the 6th week following topics are covered:

- Chapter 2.6: Higher Order Derivatives

- Chapter 2.8: The Mean Value Theorem: Increasing and decreasing functions

- Chapter 2.9: Implicit Differentiation

- Chapter 2.10: Antiderivatives and Initial Value Problems: Antiderivatives, The definite integral

- Chapter 2.11: Velocity and Acceleration

7. Week

In the 7th week following topics are covered:

- Chapter 3.1: Inverse Functions

- Chapter 3.2: Exponential and Logarithmic Functions

- Chapter3.3: The Natural Logarithm and Exponential

- Chapter 3.5: The Inverse Trigonometric Functions

- Chapter 3.6: Hyperbolic Functions


Second quiz will be held on next week on Tuesday 20.11.2018 at 11:00 in the MAK-117 classroom of Mechanical Engineering.

8. Week

In the 8th week following topics are covered:

- Chapter 4.3: Indeterminate Forms

- Chapter 4.4: Extreme Values

- Chapter 4.5: Concavity and Inflections

- Chapter 4.6: Sketching the Graph of a Function


You can find your grades for the second quiz in the attached filed named as "MAT805 Calculus I - Quiz 2 Grades - Group B.pdf" .

9. Week

In the 9th week following topics are covered:

- Chapter 4.8: Extreme Value Problems

10. Week

In the 10th week following topic are covered:

- Chapter 5.1: Sum and Sigma Notation

- Chapter 5.2:Areas as limits of Sums

- Chapter 5.3: The Definite Integral

- Chapter 5.4: Properties of the Definite Integral

11. Week

In the 11th week following topic are covered:

- Chapter 5.5: The fundamental Theorem of Calculus

- Chapter 5.6: The Method of Substitution

12. Week

In the 12th week following topics are covered:

- Chapter 5.7: Areas of Planes Regions


Quiz grades are announced! Please look at the attached file. If you are registered to the group B and you have hesitation about your grades, you may come and see your paper for the 3rd quiz in my office (Res. Asist. Dr. Altan Onat).
